Breaking out of creative hibernation / by Andy Stoltz

So I'm sitting here feeling like my day is over, like I get home from working and it's night-time! Year after year it's the same thing and honestly I don't get why I feel this way, some might say it's a vitamin D thing or just being in a community that really just is not active in the evening, whatever winter kills my creativity.

 ugh. winter

ugh. winter

I have figured out a way to beat winter though. Part of it is that I take a vitamin supplement just so I can't blame my mood on loosing Vitamin D, the other part is just affirming that there is in fact still potential for each day. The trick to doing this is to get yourself to a place where there are no distractions and only the potential for creativity. So I literally go into my basement with a box of photos and my paints and just start to work

And to those who just love the winter... so you know, here in New England snow falls wet and heavy then freezes to be rock hard! Too many times have I looked out and said to myself, "you know what! I am going to have fun with this winter thing!" then I run out and jump into the snow only to have the wind knocked out of me by solid ice!
